The Glass House

For date day last week we did Philip Johnson's minimalist glass and steel masterpiece built in 1949 in New Caanan, CT. Philip loved light, circles, and believed form follows function. You betcha.

Vestiges by Paulette Carr

Blithewold will host a candle lighted tour featuring artist Paulette Carr's sculpture on Thursday, September 23rd at 6 PM. Ms. Carr show is titled "Vestiges". I have photographed these pieces for her and highly recommend seeing this show, either at the opening or anytime till October 5th. The work is wonderful and the arboretum is beautiful in the fall. Here is a sneak preview.

painting with light

I saw some nice painting with light examples on Strobist the other day so I think I'm going to play with this technique a bit. Shades of yesterday... Using a flashlight to illuminate the subject can add a glow that is hard to achieve in any other way. Below, a quickie... more to come.
