We arrived home just as the sun was going down last night. This time the it showed itself briefly for a few minutes between a low cloud cover and the distant tree line, lighting a band of broken clouds beneath a heavy overcast. Then it was gone. The dark followed quickly, dropping like a curtain across our lake. The show was over...
Our little lake has so many moods. Tonight, within 20 minutes, it went from sunny to cloudy to windy with heavy rain to a dark brooding sunset. We stood transfixed. We love it here.

Not that our lake needed it, but rain again... helping to fill up our lake. For the last couple of days a nice gentle rain has fallen, thoroughly watering our new plantings and lawn. This image from a rainy sunset evening. We hoped for a rainbow but didn't get it.

A gentle rain rolled in over Indian Lake last evening. Rumbling and lightning off to the north, but soft showers here, like Ireland. We waited for the rainbow but none appeared. Instead, the sunset silhouetted our oaks in an outrageous burst of orange, and after setting, it illuminated lovely pink clouds in the glow of last light. I stood on the pier as the dark settled in.. Perfectly quiet. Kathy says it feels like we're on vacation... every night.

The fog hung like an unanswered question over our lake this morning. It was just past 6 AM, and the sun was still well down beyond the hill. The geese were ghostly shapes floating silently in the mist, and their calls echoing eerily across the waters. This place is so stimulating, never quite the same, every morning another delightful scene for my camera. We do love it here.

Every morning the lake is different. Some days gray, wind whipping cold from the north. This morning our lake has disappeared. We are completely fogged in, and can only see a few feet from the shore. Yesterday the lake was like glass, not a ripple, a perfect mirror reflecting everything. The trees on the far shore were like seeing double. The top of the oak we lost a few storms ago made a wonderful picture, with clouds wandering across the frame. Have I said before, we love it here.

Wednesday my rock was almost completely submerged in the deluge but last night we actually saw the sun set. It's been a while. I sat on the new deck sipping a glass of wine as our lake slipped into twilight. Totally quiet except for the birds singing their night song. The now familiar "Sunset Feeling" settles in, one of peace and contentment. Neither words nor pictures can do the experience justice because it is not so much visual as it is visceral. No need to speak, just sit and feel it. Really lovely last night.
