So what am I doing on a breezy Sunday AM ... perusing my keyword list. Found the heads at the Balloon Festival last Sunday, but never got around to developing it. Here, with some retouching in Lightroom is the result. This of course led me to some of my other mannequins.
Texture overlays can transform. Here, a shot of a mask I took years ago in the RISD museum. Several layer masks and blend modes later and it has become something more interesting.
Jan ArmorWaiting for the swans to no avail. Shot lily pads instead. I like this one with a texture overlay.
Jan Armor6:09 AM on the rocky far shore -- I shipped the oars and was able to drift up close to this large egret.

Behold the ego
Set in glowing emptiness
On the edge of time
By Noel Kaufman
I rowed down to the bottom of the cove in a light fog this AM and found Mama Swan with only three cygnets, constantly calling out for her others. Once there were five, now only three, and one chick was clearly sick or injured. This little guy couldn't keep up, and needed frequent rest stops along the morning breakfast swim up the cove. So sad to witness, but finally Mom swam off with the two remaining healthy babies into the center of the lake, apparently abandoning the sickly bird that was lagging behind. I watched this tiny single swim slowly toward the nest, then back towards his mother, confused and alone, and very vulnerable.
A few minutes later Mama did a fly by around the lake, still looking for her other two chicks. Sure enough, about twenty minutes later these two little rebels came swimming merrily up the lake, looking for Mom. Let's hope they find her before dark...Using some of the tools available from Photoshop, I created these three from our Waterfire Safari.

I rowed down to the shallow end of the cove and found Mama with her five cygnets. She allowed me get close, and to follow her from place to place as her babies eat their veggies.
