Assignment: A self portrait
The first assignment at my upcoming Digital Photography class at URI will be "A self portrait that says something about you." I like to do the assignments myself for "enlightenment."

Classroom, Botswana
We were given a warm welcome at the school. The children sang and danced for us. We were welcomed with open arms. The student to teacher ratio here was about 50 to 1. No kidding. Children shared desks, and a bench in the back accommodated about 25 pupils. The kids ranged in age from 8 or 9 to 16 or older. Many were dressed in rags. Supplies were in short supply- notice this young man's pencil. We were told many walked 3 miles or more to get here. No school bus. Still, there was a palpable joy and enthusiasm in the class that was inspiring.

Woman at the Well- Zimbabwe
Just received a request to use this image on a church bulletin... for free. (Everyone wants it for free, right?) Pastor Nick found me on Flickr.
Thinking it may me pass through the Pearly Gates, I sent this over to his Baptist Church somewhere in Red Neck country with my compliments. If he liked this, I wonder how he liked my figure studies...?
