Vestiges by Paulette Carr

Blithewold will host a candle lighted tour featuring artist Paulette Carr's sculpture on Thursday, September 23rd at 6 PM. Ms. Carr show is titled "Vestiges". I have photographed these pieces for her and highly recommend seeing this show, either at the opening or anytime till October 5th. The work is wonderful and the arboretum is beautiful in the fall. Here is a sneak preview.

Somewhere

Somewhere there was a sunset like this one on Indian Lake one day this summer.

painting with light

I saw some nice painting with light examples on Strobist the other day so I think I'm going to play with this technique a bit. Shades of yesterday... Using a flashlight to illuminate the subject can add a glow that is hard to achieve in any other way. Below, a quickie... more to come.

A visit to Logee

The 200 year old greenhouses in Danielson, CT. are a visual feast. Kathy and I had a ball,and came home with $70 worth of tropical plants that probably will freeze to death this winter. In any case, a great place to take pictures.

Fuller Craft Museum

We've passed the sign many times on our way to Boston or Maine but never took the time to investigate. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. They had a great glass show by master craftsman Josh Simpson, and were also showing some chairs from their permanent collection. They also were showing some work that was a blending of digital age innovation blended to old work craft. The glove sat on a ceramic vase like object and it was wired to inflate when motion was detected nearby. Very funny. Obviously, photography was allowed.

Norris Basin, Yellowstone National Park

I'm taking another look at some images I shot last year on our trip to Montana and Wyoming. Looking at old images with fresh eyes is a worthwhile adventure, especially using Lightroom. Images like these that I gave just a cursory look when I initially saw them have now become worth the travel wall.
