We were given a warm welcome at the school. The children sang and danced for us. We were welcomed with open arms. The student to teacher ratio here was about 50 to 1. No kidding. Children shared desks, and a bench in the back accommodated about 25 pupils. The kids ranged in age from 8 or 9 to 16 or older. Many were dressed in rags. Supplies were in short supply- notice this young man's pencil. We were told many walked 3 miles or more to get here. No school bus. Still, there was a palpable joy and enthusiasm in the class that was inspiring.

Woman at the Well- Zimbabwe
Just received a request to use this image on a church bulletin... for free. (Everyone wants it for free, right?) Pastor Nick found me on Flickr.
Thinking it may me pass through the Pearly Gates, I sent this over to his Baptist Church somewhere in Red Neck country with my compliments. If he liked this, I wonder how he liked my figure studies...?Sunday, March 20, 2011
Hypnotic Moon
"The Perigee Moonrise," again last night, at 7:57, from a farmer's field near Prout School.
I doubt if I'll be around for the next one...

Good catch!
Who says sea gulls don't like fresh water fish? I spotted this gull snagging a trout as he came over the Sagatucket River dam in downtown Wakefield.
There seem to be many dimensions of reality. Here, a life and death survival drama unfolding, and not 30 yards away school children sat enjoying ice cream on a sunny afternoon.

Black Point
I happened upon a beautiful place of smooth stones, and reflecting pools this afternoon. Very inspirational. I know I will return here again and again. 2.2 miles south on Rt 1A to Black Point Fishing Area.
Final flakes
From the Feb 27th snow fall. Hopefully this is the last of it for the winter.

Sones
I never can resist the cool smooth stones at Narragansett Beach, and how wonderful they feel in my viewfinder, as well as in my hands.
Spring thaw
We woke this morning to miniature icebergs, and lots of open water, even our first swan!

Signs of spring
The ice is beginning to melt, and the ducks have found a little open water here on the lake.
